Every year, AEG Presents puts on a series of over a dozen summer concerts featuring big name artists at Marymoor Park in Seattle, WA. For the 2018 lineup, they commissioned me to create promotional paintings for all 15 concerts. However, they asked that the promotional pieces each be painted on 18"x24" wooden boards, photographed, prepared for digital printing and potentially screen printing, and then delivered, but contacted me about this project just days before the concert series began. This did not give adequate time to purchase, cut, seal, and prime the boards, let alone come up with concepts and execute them in paint, so the project was adjusted to only reflect the last six artists: Sublime with Rome, Willie Nelson, 107.7 The End's Summer Camp Tour, Dispatch, Jason Isbell, and Jason Mraz. The designs were created with flat colors, semi-simple illustratoins, and a low variety of colors in each piece in order to cut down on execution time and allow for the possibility of screen printing. However, due to high costs and lack of any print shops capable of screen printing anything larger than around 12"x18", the bookers for the concerts eventually decided against ordering posters. The paintings, however, hang permanently in the artist dressing rooms at the Marymoor mansion.
